Plant Ecology

About 270,000 plant species are known on earth. It is estimated that there are about 320,000 in all. Plants are the source of almost all food in terrestrial ecosystems, capturing sunlight in photosynthesis. Plant ecology is the scientific study of the interactions between plants and their environment, from the cycling of nutrients through plants, to photosynthesis, to the impact of air pollution on plant morphology and growth.
