WiserEarth Regional Coordinator
Global Community Coordinator) | Discuss | Visit or Join the Global Community group
WiserEarth (WE) is an online community consisting of visitors and users around the world. In order to strengthen WE, it must be diversified, so it must attract users from under-represented regions and countries. A Regional Coordinator can do this by outreaching to people from a region or set of regions to join a regional based WiserEarth group.
Why do we need Regional Coordinators? Who can be one?
By building a WiserEarth Group based within a specific locality (region, country, continent, county, municipality, city, community, etc.) a WiserEarth participant will help attract new users, discussion, activity and content from the selected locality. This will greatly extend the WiserEarth community beyond the United States and English-speaking nations.
Anyone can be a regional coordinator and participate freely whenever they please.
What do Regional Coordinators do?
- Build a location-based WiserEarth group
- Invite friends, associates, organizations to join your WiserEarth group!
- Edit the group for content (See Global Community Coordinators group for examples)
- Increase and improve the content and data in a locality.
- Adding additional orgs, resources, events, jobs, etc.
- Monitoring, browsing and removing or updating orgs, resource, events etc.
- Tagging organizations with a more accurate or comprehensive list of areas of focus.
- Improving the overall look of organization '"About" sections
- Editing the locality's group to raise awareness of the topic and showcase/highlight organizations, resources, etc.
- Share the Area of Focus with...
- Organizations
- Blogs
- Listserves

I think this is a good idea... a suggestion would be to take it a step further and collaborate with organizations like http://www.1sky.org/ for regional U.S. coordinators; get the regional 1sky coordinators to organize their networks (bring more people onto wiserearth) on the wiser platform and use it to their advantage to make connections which will improve the effectiveness of their local campaigns... and ensure their alignment with the national initiative...
