Yes, agree that G3ict proably doesn't belong here ... and guess what? I realized that neither does Barefoot College; they don't have any ICT program as yet ... however, I think this organization belongs somewhere on WE.... where would you suggest...

Also, can you direct me to where discussion is occuring on 'template' for fleshing out AofF ... like, for example, what role would I have in inputting information here and where would it go? You are the steward so in control of what we have here... But what do you have in mind? I'd really like to contribute to this area but what is it going to look like and how will the content be determined? I recall seeing discussion about this somewhere else ... I'll look again... something along the lines of creating a few AofF stewardships to flesh out and then serve as prototypes?

Thx for the resources, I would list G3ict on WiserEarth but they are headed by a LLC. Barefoot College seems pretty cool, but can you tell me more about their ICT aspect?

A few more links for resources:

GEM II: Thematic Adaptation Workshop for Rural ICT4D Projects and Telecentres
Location:
Tagaytay City (nearest airport: Manila), Philippines
Event date (from-to):
Mar 10 2008 - Mar 14 2008
This workshop will focus on gender evaluation for rural ICT4D and telecentres projects from around the world, by adapting the APC Women’s Networking Support Programme’s Gender Evaluation Methodology for Internet and ICTs developed in 2002. In this second stage of GEM the methodology will be specifically adapted in four areas: localisation, national and ICT policy advocacy, rural ICT4D, and telecentres.
2. The Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs http://g3ict.com/
3. The Barefoot College http://www.barefootcollege.org/
The Barefoot College began in 1972 with the conviction that solutions to rural problems lie within the community.

The College addresses problems of drinking water, girl education, health & sanitation, rural unemployment, income generation, electricity and power, as well as social awareness and the conservation of ecological systems in rural communities.

The College benefits the poorest of the poor who have no alternatives.

The College encourages practical knowledge and skills rather than paper qualifications through a learning by doing process of education.

For resources on this page, I would like to recommend the DigitialDivide Listserv...http://www.digitaldivide.net/community/digitaldivide
"DIGITALDIVIDE is the official email discussion forum for the Digital Divide Network. With approximately 10,000 members in more than 70 countries, the DIGITALDIVIDE list is the Internet's premiere forum for discussing the digital divide. Membership is open to the public, and all DDN members are encouraged to join -- you can activate your membership on your DDN profile edit page."

I have been a member of this group since 1999 and it is one of the finest places to keep up on ICTs in the developing world.
