The Central Coast Environmental Health Project (CCEHP) in Santa Barbara County has been approached by local, organic farmers who are interested in partnering with us to develop a local food system model that addresses the 3-E's...environment, economics, and equity/social justice.
Are there existing models between private farmers who grow the food and non-profit organizations who help educate the community, market the idea, and get broad based support? In the eyes of funders, is the educational component (the non-profit) important enough to merit funding for such efforts, or is there some different relationship that needs to be established?
As our project is in transition, and is in need of funds to help capitalize on this great opportunity that has presented itself, any and all feedback would be welcomed! So if you know funders, farmers, or other orgs. that could provide feedback or support, send em my way!
