About [Edit]
"Citizens Working Together for a Healthy Coast" best summarizes the North Carolina Coastal Federation`s mission. NCCF is a non-profit, tax exempt organization which seeks to provide citizens and groups with the assistance needed to take an active role in the wise management of North Carolina`s coastal water quality and natural resources. The North Carolina Coastal Federation was founded in 1982 by eight grassroots groups concerned with local coastal issues. Today, NCCF serves 7,500 members and 200 affiliated organizations. With a permanent professional staff of eleven, more than 250 active volunteers, and a 28-member statewide board of directors, the Coastal Federation is considered the largest and one of the most effective coastal conservation groups in the State.
The NCCF focuses on three main areas of work:
the restoration and protection of coastal water quality and habitat;
the encouragement of sound environmental programs and their enforcement; and the delivery of effective education programs.
