Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara [AMAN] or Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago is an independent social organisation composed of indigenous peoples communities from the whole of the country.



The Alliance is aimed to be an organisation for indigenous peoples to struggle for their existence and rights inherited with it as well as to struggle for sovereignity in running their lives and in managing their natural resources.



A Summary of AMAN Programs :

Indigenous Organization, Networking and Customary Institutions Development: The objective of the program is to work on the efforts to establish, to develop, and to strengthen indigenous organizations throughout Indonesia as community-based organizations with an effective information and communication center.



Indigenous Rights Advocacy and Legal Defense: The program has an intention of accelerating the change of political sphere at national level to go up to democratic political lives where legal systems are able to guarantee and to protect indigenous peoples rights.



Strengthening Customary-based Economic System: The works of this program are aimed to raise the bargaining power of production and distribution system of indigenous peoples economic resources to defend their system from the intervention of new exploitative economic system leading to over dependency and consumerism.



Strengthening Indigenous Women: The program is aimed to raise political and gender awareness among indigenous women and to initiate and to facilitate indigenous women organization development at local, regional, and national level.



Education for Indigenous Youth: The objective of this program is to bridge the gap in indigenous knowledge and wisdom between old and young generation of an indigenous community and to build strong indigenous cultural identity and character among indigenous youth in terms of diversity and pluralism.
