About [Edit]
Mission Statement
The National FOI Coalition joins First Amendment and open government organizations from individual states in a self-supporting alliance as they seek to protect the public's right to know through the education of media professionals, attorneys, academics, students and the general public. NFOIC nurtures start-up FOI organizations in other states. It assists its own members through joint fundraising, project planning, and the interchange of ideas and information.
Goals
The NFOIC's goals are:
To help start-up FOI organizations,
To initiate joint fundraising efforts with state organizations,
To develop FOI programs, projects and publications that can be utilized by the member FOI organizations with no, or minimal, modification,
To support the states in their efforts to obtain funding for individual projects,
To establish task forces that will look at critical issues and make recommendations for individual state actions or collective national action, or prepare educational reports or other publications,
To meet annually to share experiences and information and to brainstorm,
To educate the public generally on FOI issues.
