About [Edit]

Center for Whole Communities creates a more just, balanced and healthy world by exploring, honoring, and deepening the connections between land, people and community. We are activists in a new land movement that integrates conservation, health, justice, spirit and relationship.
Action
- Reframe values: We bridge diverse interests by finding and articulating the values that hold us together as working partnerships and as communities.- Redefine success: We teach leaders that there are new ways of describing success that more powerfully and creatively integrate the needs of people and the land. We train leaders in new theories of change that envision a more positive and hopeful story of healthy people, land and community.
- Rejuvinate activists: We nurture reflective and creative practices that open the door for more authentic collaborations, deeper dialogue, and new ways of being leaders. Together we are creating a new story in America about people land and community.
Programs
Whole Thinking Leadership Forums: We create safe and valued forums where diverse people and organizations can engage in honest dialogue about successes, failures and highest aspirations. We bridge diverse interests to create shared approaches that might better translate the soul of the land into the soul of our culture. Through mindful discussions that touch the human spirit, we engage in deep dialogue about the most effective paths to social change. Participants challenge each other, create with their hands and with their minds, all while coming together in community at Knoll Farm.Vision and Values Workshops: We collaborate with community leaders and land organizations around the country to help them transform their work on the ground through new theories of change. By envisioning and enacting a more hopeful story of healthy people and healthy land, we help create personal transformation, organizational change, and cultural shifts.
Measures of Health: We offer new tools for valuing, describing and measuring the possibilities of land for positively shaping our communities and our lives. Measures of Health is the first ethical standard on why and for whom land should be conserved in America. Its widespread adoption will strengthen our new movement by helping make visible the values and ethics associated with land, informing better strategic choices and helping conservationists to be more responsive to America`s diverse culture.
The Center for Whole Communities is based at Knoll Farm in Fayston Vermont.
