Let World Peace Become a Reality (ACHA)

Fight Poverty, Build Peace (IYCS)


International Day of Peace marked in Toba Tek Sing. St. Peter's High School, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Human Development Centre, Mary Jean Foundation Trust, Pakistan, International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) and Bangladesh-Bahrat-Pakistan Peoples Forum (BBPPF) marked International Day of Peace jointly.


Students of St. Peter's High School started 39 Days Peace Campaign on August 14, 2007. (39 days Peace Campaign was launched by Association for Communal Harmony of Asia, AHCA, a USA based Peace building organization). Each day was given a special theme on Peace. Young people made symbols out of those peace statements.


On September 21, 2007 Peace Day Program was arranged at St. Peter's High School.  Mr. Victor Samuel Youngman from Pakistan got married with a young  lady from United States of America lit the candles to start peace celebrations, it was also a sign that USA and Pakistani youth is coming together to build peace. 


IYCSers presented peace, songs, games, and a peace role play. Art work was also displayed on peace building and role of people. Sharing the experiences of Peace Days Campaign.


Miss. Nida Ashfaq, young YCSer said, for me, "Peace is not the absence of war; it is respecting and accepting each other and promoting human rights"


Miss. Saba Younis one of the student leader said, " I have been a part of peace day programs in my areas since UN has declared Sept 21, a day of peace. Each year we work on a special peace theme, this year we have some very good programs. Positive aspects of these programs are that our parents and illiterate people are actively working on peace issues"


Mr. Sooner Paul (a student of Class 9), said, "I am thankful to AHCA and its people for peace days campaign. Each day's theme given us a chance to reflect and make symbols out of these peace statements/slogans"


Mr. Ahsan of Bangladesh-Bharat-Pakistan Peoples Forum (BBPPF) said, " for stable and peaceful South Asia, people of India & Pakistan should come together to build real peace in South Asia.  There is need to work at grass root, national and South Asian level"


In the evening special prayer was conducted at Catholic Church, Toba Tek Singh.  Large number of peace makers attended this special prayer service. IYCS arranged the prayer service and Peace Vigil. Students and people of all walks of life gathered and in a peace procession they lit the candles for those who lost their lives in wars, conflicts, terrorism etc.


Mr. Ashfaq Fateh gave a "PEACE DINNER" to young PEACE activists at "India-Pakistan PEACE House" The participants also brought one dish made by them to share their food with each other.


On September 20th Convent of Jesus and Mary School conducted Peace Program. Student of Muslims and Christians presented wonderful items while small kids' art work on peace was displayed in their classes. Fr. Bonnie Mendes director HDC and Ms. Rafia Ashfaq of DA 11 encouraged the students.
