Education, the key to future peace.

In continuation with the spirit of celebrating the 26th international day of peace, African Foundation for Peace and Love Initiative (AFPLI) through her peace club KAIROS PEACE AND LOVE CLUB Olabisi Onabanjo University chapter organized a day seminar at the main campus of the institution in Ago Iwoye Ogun State on Wednesday, 3rd of October 2007, with the titled “The

Role of African Higher Institution in Building Of Africa, The Future Land of Peace” the seminar which is the third in the series this year attracts a good number of students, teachers, AFPLI officials and other stakeholders within and outside of the academia.

The guest speaker at the seminar Dr Mrs Ebun Oduwole, the Head of Philosophy Department, in the same institution asserts “ Without education, there is no empowerment and without empowerment nothing can be built including Nations “ She continued with the charge to the students and other representatives that Nigeria is in need of problem solvers who will not only receive education but will apply the same, she appreciated the efforts of the founding organization of the KPLC, She said I have great respect for this club, I happened to come in contact with them for the first time when I was a member of the panel of enquiry set up by the Ogun State Government to look into the remote cause of the crisis between the students and their host community, in 2005, this club submitted a paper and was asked to appear before the panel, they did and I was tremendously impressed, today I must tell you that I am happy to be part of what they are doing, because they are making laudable impacts.

Earlier on in the program, the Founder AFPLI/APPLI Rev Titus K. Oyeyemi has equally charge the students to be different in their approach to life, they should use their time to contribute to the development of their Nation, he further challenged them to be optimistic, to be a creator of wealth, and to maximize the potential of IT to its fullest. In his own words “ I want you to be part of a community where you can voice your ideas and interest in an encouraging manner, relationship is the key to accomplishment and I am happy to inform you that this is what all our peace clubs are out to achieve from kindergarten to the tertiary and beyond to NYSC and the community at large”.

In the welcome address by the third and current president of the club Peacemaker Seun Erinle he said the club activities and impact within the university and beyond has been tremendous since her inception and inauguration program in September 2004, I want to thank the mother organization African Foundation for Peace and Love Initiatives for their support.
