About

I'm Elizabeth and I just completed my MSc Ethnobotany at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England.  For my dissertation research, I worked with Gary Nabhan on Renewing America's Food Traditions. We got the 'California Place-Based Foods at Risk' list started which is just the beginning of RAFT's role in restoring an ecologically and culturally sustainable food system in California.

What I will do next seems to be a mystery to me at this point. I am back living in my hometown of Berkeley where I hope to begin working with one of the many Sustainable Food System organization in California and even with local and state governments to begin the creation and implementation of sustainable food systems policy.

Aside from my interest in plants and people and food, I LOVE biking. I rode my bike from San Diego to St. Augustine, Florida, and around Ireland, and up and down the Berkeley/Oakland hills too many times to count. Through cycling I have truly grown to understand how enduring the human body and spirit can be. One of the best lessons of my life.
