I love empowering people pursue their passions. Most often via skills instruction, social connection, or plain old interpersonal support.

My work lets me do this: I work for a small nonprofit called LEAD (www.leadteen.com). The mission is to develop the leadership skills of low-income teens, empowering them to address community problems and change the world. We focus on ending oppression of all kinds, especially that against young people. The teens have a large role in leading the organization.

I also work for the city's outdoor program, teaching rock climbing, rafting, and assorted other adventure activities.

Given a week to do whatever I want, I'll be on a climbing trip, singing/guitaring/banjoing around a campfire, soaking up the beauty, challenge, and connection with others that comes with extended outdoor trips.
