Jonathon D. Colman is the associate director of digital marketing for
The Nature Conservancy, where he leads the strategic marketing and
promotion of the Conservancy's web site at http://www.nature.org/
For more than a decade, Jonathon has designed, developed, and
promoted web sites for large companies and nonprofits, including The
Nature Conservancy, Conservation International and IBM. His expertise
lies in web strategy, online marketing and outreach, search engine
optimization and marketing, and engaging "web 2.0" news portals (Digg,
Netscape, Newsvine) and online social networks (MySpace, Facebook,
Care2) to build buzz and support good causes.
Jonathon is an acclaimed public speaker at large conferences
covering the leading edge of nonprofit technology, marketing, and
fundraising. His past speaking engagements include the American
Marketing Association Nonprofit Marketing Conference, the NTEN National
Technology Conference, the Direct Marketing Association of
Washington/American Fundraising Professionals "Bridge to Integrated
Marketing" conference, and the Washington, DC Web Managers Roundtable.
Jonathon served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso, West
Africa, where he lived in a small village performing rural health
development work including education and health infrastructure
capacity-building.
Jonathon graduated magna cum laude from the Scientific and
Technical Communication program at Michigan Technological University.
He has also pursued post-graduate study in human-computer interaction
and user interface development at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
A runner, biker, treehugger, and EcoGeek, Jonathon lives in
Washington, DC with his wife, Marja.
