Hi!
'm from Brazil. I live in city called Sorocaba that is 100km away from São Paulo. I'm 25 years old and I work since 2000 with 5 friends in projects that mix digital technologies, communities and informal learning. Since then, we developed some projects to the Brazilian government and for some non profit organizations.
On 2007, we decide to create a company to help people on organizations that want to expand their knowledge through the informal learning. We teach these guys to use digital tools like wiki, blogs, social bookmarks and social networks like www.ning.com to create communities of practice in organizations that have more than 500 or 1000 people.
The work was going good and we were always looking for "tools" that help people to learn with the others. We read a lot of things of Maturana, Jay Cross, George Siemens and others. So, someday we heard about Open Space Technology and figured out that presential work and presential coexistence were fundamental for those guys in these companies that we were working in.
So we start some jobs and projects to create significant conversations on these companies using openspace at first. After each meeting, those conversations stills happening at digital networks because we created a network at ning.com for each company that we host a meeting.
In these process, we had contact with anothers tools like the "fish bowl" and, at octber of last year, we heard about World Café, because Juanita came to Brazil to "lunch" (i don't if this is the word :)) her book.
So we bought the book, read, read more at web and we started to look for everthing related with the world café because it made all the sense to us. So we made about 20 cafés last year since we had contact with it.
Those cafés were made with 5 communities (3 companies and 2 non profits organizations) and results were great of course.
We pretend to host anothers cafés in this year. Actually, we have a big challenge this year. We are looking for hosts in Brazil.
