I grew up surrounded by suburbia, hobby farms, and small woodlots in Beaverton, Oregon. Got engaged to the environmental movement at 17, when I worked as a canvasser for OSPIRG. Attended University of Colorado at Boulder for 1.5 years, then transferred up
