About
Hi! I'm Sonya, an intern at Highwater Investment who is researching and evaluating banking and finance companies for inclusion in the Highwater SRI fund. I was born in Oakland, but my family left after one year to run a youth hostel in rural Pennsylvania and then we moved to Seattle, so I'm excited to be back in the Bay Area for the summer.
Over the years, I've been involved in a variety of causes, including child labor, anti-racism, mediation and conflict resolution, and disposal of hazardous electronic wastes. Before starting college, I took a year off to join a political theater group and performed pieces on domestic abuse, poverty, drugs, and multiculturalism at schools and community centers across WA, OR, CA, and NV.
Next year I'll be finishing my economics B.S. at American University and thinking about how to turn my interest in social justice into a career. Please drop me a line to say hi!
