About
I am the Farm to Cafeteria Director for 21 ACRES , a Pacific Northwest (U.S.) non-profit whose mission is to cultivate, demonstrate and advance systems that support sustainable agriculture. I am focused on growing the amount of local food produced and consumed in our local markets with particular focus on developing robust marketing and distribution networks. I am also focused on embedded energy in our food supply: how much oil, coal and gas are used to grow and move the food we eat. I am concerned with how our conventional food system impacts climate change and how much our food supply is at risk due to an overreliance on fossil fuels.
